Notes, Lineup

Hey, there is life after the draft: the Bucs are taking on the first place Reds tonight. AJ Burnett (4-2, 3.60) goes against Pirate killer Homer Bailey (4-3, 3.73), who threw a four-hitter at the Bucs last Tuesday. The righty is 6-0 in eight career starts against Pittsburgh with a 1.79 ERA. Of course, AJ tossed seven two-hit frames against Cincy on Wednesday, so it should be a nice matchup. The game starts at 7:10 and will be shown on Root Sports.

The lineup: Alex Presley LF, Neil Walker 2B, Andrew McCutchen CF, Garrett Jones RF, Matt Hague 1B, Casey McGehee 3B, Rod Barajas C, Clint Barmes SS, AJ Burnett P.

Pedro is still out, and JT joins him as Alex Presley gets back into action. Jones and his hot bat move into cleanup.

  • Alex Presley was recalled and Gorkys Hernandez sent back to Indy.
  • The Pirates have been waiting for Bradenton 1B Alex Dickerson, last year's #3 pick, to have a break-out day. Well, he did last night, going 5-for-6 with 2 HR, a double, 6 RBI and 4 runs scored.
  • SS Alen Hanson (.332/8/31), OF Greg Polanco (.304/8/31), and RHP Matt Benedict (4-3/2.93) of West Virginia have been selected to play for the Sally League Northern All-Star Team
  • The draft continues today with rounds 2-15. No TV for this one, but MLB.com will live stream the proceedings beginning at noon. It will finish up tomorrow with rounds 16-40, also beginning at noon. If you missed it, the Bucs drafted RHP Mark Appel and OF Barrett Barnes last night.
