Locke v Cahill

Jeff Locke (9-3, 2.43) faces Trevor Cahill (3-10, 4.66) today. Locke has been struggling with his control lately, but still has given up three earned runs or less in 19 of his last 20 starts. He doesn't have much of a track record against the Snakes, having worked a couple of relief innings against them in 2012. Cahill will be making his first start since June 30th, coming off the DL after suffering from hip and shoulder issues.

The game starts at 4:05 and is the Fox Saturday game. 93.7 The Fan will have the radio coverage.

Pirate lineup: Starling Marte LF, Neil Walker 2B, Andrew McCutchen CF, Pedro Alvarez 3B, Russell Martin C, Garrett Jones 1B, Jose Tabata RF, Jordy Mercer SS and Jeff Locke P.

JT stays in right; maybe he just needed a little competition to get it going.

D-Back lineup: A.J. Pollock CF, Martin Prado LF, Paul Goldschmidt 1B, Aaron Hill 2B, Matt Davidson 3B, Wil Nieves C, Gerardo Parra RF, Didi Gregorius SS and Trevor Cahill P.

Gregorius, who's been in a slump this month, is back in the lineup after a day off.

  • The Pirates have won six straight home games and have gone 13-3 in their last 16 games at PNC Park. Pittsburgh’s 42-20 (.677) home record is the second-best in MLB.
  • The Cards and Reds both lost last night, so the Pirates are up by 3 and 3-1/2 games in the NL Central going into today.
