Cole v Baker

Gerrit Cole (7-7, 3.48) takes on Scott Baker (0-0, 0.00). Cole is coming off the gem when he bested Yu Darvish. Baker is making his second start since coming back from TJ surgery, tossing a five inning whitewash against Milwaukee in his first outing. Patience might be the key; he's on an 80 pitch or so limit.

The game is at 7:05 and will be aired by Root Sports and 93.7 The Fan.

Pirate lineup: Jose Tabata LF, Neil Walker 2b, Andrew McCutchen CF, Justin Morneau 1b, Marlon Byrd RF, Pedro Alvarez 3b, Russ Martin C, Jordy Mercer SS and Gerrit Cole P.

Cub lineup: Starlin Castro SS, Luis Valbuena 3b, Anthony Rizzo 1b, Nate Schierholtz RF, Ryan Sweeney CF, Brian Bogusevic LF, Welington Castillo C, Darwin Barney 2b and Scott Baker P.

  • Cutch enters the game with an 11 game hit streak.
  • The Pirates expect to go over the two million mark in attendance tonight for the second straight season.
  • The Pirates will consult with specialist Dr. James Andrews before figuring out the next step for LHP Wandy Rodriguez, who has been out since June.
  • J-Mac cleared waivers, was sent to Indy, and with the season over declared free agency. We expect to see him pitching next season, but more likely out of someone's pen rather than the rotation.
