Wandy v Tillman, Lineup, Interleague, Injuries, Minors...

Chris Tillman (4-2, 3.34) faces Wandy Rodriguez (0-2, 6.84) tonight. Tillman is coming off a shutout of KC, but the Bucs put up four runs off him in Baltimore. Wandy has had issues with early-inning runs and long balls, but tossed the ball well against the Brewers last time out, his first showing since coming off the DL.

Lineup: Josh Harrison RF, Neil Walker 2B, Cutch CF, Pedro 3B, Starling Marte LF, Ike Davis 1B, Jordy Mercer SS, Tony Sanchez C and Wandy P.

  • The Pirates have already lost more inter-league games this season than in all of 2013. Pittsburgh is 3-6 in interleague games this year after going an NL-best 15-5 last year.
  • Jason Grilli threw his second of back-to-back simulated games today. If there aren't any setbacks, he could be activated for the upcoming series against the Nationals. Russ Martin, also on the DL, caught him as the FO ponders when to bring him back. Stolmy Pimentel will throw one more side session and then is expected to get a minor-league rehab assignment.
  • David Schoenfield of ESPN's The Sweet Spot doesn't think the Pirates are mishandling the Gregory Polanco situation. His quick calculations show that 500 AB in the upper levels are the norm for most top-ten prospects.
  • John Sickels of Minor League Ball thinks that Casey Sadler has the potential "to sneak up on everybody."
  • 2B Dilson Herrera, who the Bucs shipped to the Mets for Marlon Byrd last year, went 3-for-4 for High-A St. Lucie yesterday & now leads minors with 66 hits. He's hitting .328/.366/.433 in 201 ABs.
