Late Notes: Josh Out, Beanballin', MiLB News

Couple of late notes:
  • Josh got ill during the afternoon and was a late scratch; S-Rod replaced him at second and in the six hole in the order.

  • Last night's 'Zona beanball victims thankfully seem to be recovering OK. Nick Ahmed is back in the lineup, while Jean Segura said that he passed his concussion protocol and that Arquie texted him to let him know it wasn't intentional. Caminero, who went on the DL today, told the trainers about his quad discomfort after the game and will stop throwing completely for awhile.
  • Tony LaRussa (he's a Snake suit now) gave his usual yap to the Sporting News - didn't think the beanings were intentional, rules make it tough to retaliate, but intimidation is a big part of the fame, so...
  • Tim Williams of Pirates Prospects reported that LHP Justin Masterson is done with his extended spring training stint and will start for Class A Bradenton, likely this weekend.
  • C Elias Diaz is close to resuming throwing a baseball after his elbow surgery.
  • 1B/OF Jake Goebbert, who went to camp with the Bucs and was later claimed by Texas, was DFA'ed by the Rangers.
