Wednesday: Juan Nicasio v Jon Lester, Lineup, Notes

Tonight: It's a 12:35 getaway day start time. It will be aired on Root Sports and 93.7 The Fan, and carried by MLB Network for out-of-town fans.

Pitchers: Juan Nicasio (3-2, 3.33) v Jon Lester (2-1, 1.83). Juan had a sweet start last time out, crediting it to going hard from the beginning instead of pacing himself, and threw a seven inning three hitter with eight K. He pitched 3-2/3 IP against the Cubs last year as a Western Division reliever, but acquitted himself well, giving up just two hits. Lester has put up five straight quality starts to begin a season for the first time with a 0.93 WHIP. He was tough on the Bucs, going 2-1/1.57 in three 2015 starts.

Lineup: Jordy SS, Cutch CF, David Freese 3B, Starling Marte LF, Fran Cervelli C, S-Rod 1B, Josh Harrison 2B, Grgeory Polanco RF, Nicasio P. S-Rod is the only change, beside of spots, in the lineup and he's been afire; good to see El Coffee getting his licks against lefties; he's holding his own and the Pirates have been platoon heavy for too long.

  • Elias Diaz had his elbow debrided (cleaned out) and is expected to miss a couple of months.
