Yesterday's Game: The Bucs played small ball and tossed the cowhide well in a 5-2 win over the O's. Phil Gosselin had three hits and Starling Marte reached three times with a pair of knocks and a HBP. Gerrit Cole looked good in his first start with a bit of rust but a solid hook and Hutch worked three good frames. Tyler Glasnow reverted from a golden first outing, falling behind hitters and walking a pair in 1-2/3 IP. He and pup Miguel Rosario each surrendered a run. Jared Lakind closed it out.
- The Bucs are playing the JHK case close to the vest. Pirates prez Frank Connelly released a statement that read “We will withhold judgment on what club discipline, if any, is appropriate (until we talk to Kang). “Regardless of our decision on the disciplinary issue, we will do everything that we can...to assist Jung Ho as he works to change his behavior and grow into the man that we know he can be.”
- Knock on wood - the Bucs, usually slow starters in Florida, are off to a 6-2 start.
- Wade Miley had a tough outing yesterday. Not only did he give up a three-spot in the first (without being hit hard), but he left w/o an out in the second after an Elias Diaz liner caught his arm. That thankfully turned out OK - he was pulled, but said his wing is fine.
