Sunday: Bucs @ Yankees - Taillon v Masahiro Tanaka, Lineup, Notes, Pirates Win 3-2

Today: The Pirates are at the Yankees. Gametime is 1:05 at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. The game will be aired by 93.7 The Fan. A taped replay will run on MLB Network at 11PM.

Lineup (subs): Max Moroff SS (Phil Gosselin), Alen Hanson 2B (Chris Bostick), Fran Cervelli DH (Erich Weiss), John Jaso 1B (Joey Terdoslavich), Eric Wood 3B (Gift Ngoepe), Jose Osuna RF, Barrett Barnes LF, Jacob Stallings C (Christian Kelley) & Danny Ortiz CF. Gonna be a lot of shake-and-bake with the WBC players gonzo; Fran will take a couple of cuts today before leaving to join team Italy.

Pitchers: Jameson Taillon, Nick Kingham, Clay Holmes, Antonio Bastardo, AJ Schugel & Dan Runzler. A couple of nice young arms to sneak a peek at going today. JT got a couple of extra days off between turns; no physical problems, just part of the plan to keep him fresh.

Yesterday's Game: Rollin', rollin', rollin'...the Bucs won 3-2 over the Bosox yesterday. The only pitching blip was a two-run dinger off Wade LeBlanc, while Cutch, Freeser and Jose Osuna (he's en fuego, batting .538) chased home just enough runs. Josh, Gregory & Fran (he had two knocks) scored. King Kuhl, Tony Watson, Daniel Hudson, Jared Hughes & Pat Light put up goose eggs.

Notes:
  • The Pirates will be down another regular due to the WBC as Josh Harrison was named to replace Matt Carpenter (stiff back) on the American club. J-Hay won't start, but is expected to be a multi-role, plug-in player for the US squad.

  • Besides Cutch, Starling, El Coffee, Josh, Fran and 3B Eric Wood (Canada), the Pirates have four more guys who will be eligible for WBC rosters in the second round: pitchers Ivan Nova (Dominican Republic) with minor-leaguers Luis Escobar (Columbia), Jared Lakind (Israel) and Sam Street (Australia).
  • Josh Bell is tentatively scheduled to make his first Grapefruit League appearance tomorrow, so his recovery went as expected.
  • Tom Prince will mange for the next two days while Clint is attending a friend's funeral.
