Bucs Close Out Brew Crew Series w/Rubber Match, Kuhl v Anderson & Notes - Musgrove Start Delayed by Rain

Today: The getaway Sunday match begins at 2:10. The game will be aired by AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Greegory Polanco RF, Starling Marte CF, J-Bell 1B, Corey Dickerson LF, Fran Cervelli C, Colin Moran 3B, Jordy SS & Chad Kuhl P. No Sunday getaway lineup today; Cervy even goes after a night game.

Pitchers: RHP Chad Kuhl (3-2, 5.01) ends the set v RHP Chase Anderson (3-2, 3.38). Chad was assaulted by four bombs in his last outing after showing some encouraging signs; it would sure be nice if Uncle Ray could find the key to his engine.Chad is cool against the Brew Crew. He's 2-0/2.42 in five career starts against them. Kuhl went 1-0/2.63 in three starts last year. Anderson has been pretty effective this year, but he can be had with patience. He doesn't walk an alarming amount, but his pitch count can be worked. He's been tough on the Pirates - in 11 starts, he's 6-2/2.86.

Notes:
  • Par-tay Place: Starling Marte has hit 12 career home runs v Milwaukee, his most vs. any team. And eight of those 12 have been hit at Miller Park.
  • Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic said that Felipe Vazquez asked for a pass on Thursday unless there was a save opp because he felt ill (behind a paywall). It was scheduled as a work day no matter what the score (it ended up a 3-1 Bucco loss) as Vazquez was in a six-day stretch w/o an outing. Might just be the dude was sick; might also be that Felipe wanted to save his arm for the close, but it does explain the somewhat cryptic remark by Hurdle that he has to earn Vazquez's trust, and Vazquez has to earn his. At any rate, he worked the next day, saving a 6-4 Pirates win at Milwaukee.
  • Joe Musgrove’s Altoona rehab start has been pushed back to Monday. With the dreary weather, the club didn't want to risk him working in what may be sloppy, stop-and-go conditions.
  • The Bucs will hop on the bus after the game and spend an off-day in Chicago before they close out the road trip with two games against the White Sox.
  • The Cards lost Yadi Molina for a month; he had groin surgery after being injured last night.
