Notes From A Quiet Off Day

Quiet Day:
  • The Pirates have gone 14-29 since they were a season-high nine games over .500 on May 15th at 26-17; now they're at a season-low 40-46.
  • Hope the bullpen slept in today. Beginning tomorrow, the Pirates play 11 games in the 10 days leading up to the All-Star break. We'll see if good weather will help the gate - the PNC Park game crowd is 27th in the majors at 17,555, down from 23,696 last year.

  • A little ahead of schedule, Fran Cervelli is beginning his rehab stint with Altoona tonight, taking it slow by starting out as DH (yes, he'll bat to "That's Amore" to get him up to speed). He's been on the DL since June 21st.
  • Jennifer Langosch of MLB.com (former Bucco beat reporter) has the seller-buyer prognosis for the NL Central and her thoughts on what the Bucs will do.
  • Enny Romero has been claimed by the KC Royals after the Bucs DFA'ed him on Wednesday.
