I was sorry to see Charlie go from my Braves, and I wish him the best in Pittsburgh. :)Lauren T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03114590868172173931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6207200414495313452.post-55793123711900628122009-06-11T19:25:49.933-04:002009-06-11T19:25:49.933-04:00Lauren - I'm gonna change the name to Charlie ...Lauren - I'm gonna change the name to Charlie Morton, just to be safe. I searched through 12 pages of Charlie Morton on Google, and found three sites - Baseball Reference, Baseball Cube, and MiLB - that list Charlie A. so that's probably right. - RonRon Ieracihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08784507810080514099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6207200414495313452.post-51066859589841380112009-06-11T19:09:07.791-04:002009-06-11T19:09:07.791-04:00Will - All I can say, bud, is give it a year or tw...Will - All I can say, bud, is give it a year or two and see how it works out. Most sites and commentary I've seen seem to think both sides got what they were after.

As I said, my biggest concern is that we give away power and don't get any back; and with all the guys we strand, that's a problem.Ron Ieracihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08784507810080514099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6207200414495313452.post-56685195497976937072009-06-11T19:04:28.191-04:002009-06-11T19:04:28.191-04:00Lauren - I never gave it a thought, but I pulled i...Lauren - I never gave it a thought, but I pulled it off of a Baseball America page:
http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/stats/player.php?id=450203

Oddly, of all the sites I visited, and I hit quite a few, only one lists him as Charles A; the rest just say Charlie. Period.

So, let's review: we acquired a superb, double-A defensive outfielder, a longshot A-ball pitcher, and a triple-A pitcher who's anything but a sure thing, in exchange for an All-Star young veteran center fielder.

Got it.

I don't care if Morton becomes a rotation fixture and Hernandez becomes the regular starting center fielder, I still don't like the trade and I never will. Of course, as a Pirate fan, I hope Morton, et al succeed and exceed expectations. But I'd still rather have McLouth. Oh, well.WilliamJPellashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12774466220683142262noreply@blogger.com
