No time to look that up just now, but if so, perhaps we'd have a "true" platoon after all.WilliamJPellashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12774466220683142262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6207200414495313452.post-24130812372679129432010-07-19T14:14:52.654-04:002010-07-19T14:14:52.654-04:00Jaromillo is a switch-hitter.Jaromillo is a switch-hitter.Joey Porter’s Pit Bullshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12310757224642581737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6207200414495313452.post-64696565960168511152010-07-19T13:36:08.308-04:002010-07-19T13:36:08.308-04:00It's too bad both Kratz and Jaramillo are righ...It's too bad both Kratz and Jaramillo are righthanded sticks, otherwise they'd be an ideal platoon. I guess what we'll have instead is a "play the hot hand" strategy. If I had to choose between the two of them, I'd take Kratz because of his power. Neither is probably a true starting catcher in the bigs, but I think between them we'll be fine until Sanchez arrives. We'll certainly be better off defensively.WilliamJPellashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12774466220683142262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6207200414495313452.post-19891112805822535432010-07-18T16:19:51.040-04:002010-07-18T16:19:51.040-04:00Will, I sorta suspect that besides a reliever or t...Will, I sorta suspect that besides a reliever or two, Doumit may be the best bet to move before the deadline. I wouldn't be surprised if JJ wasn't sent to Indy to get some swings and prep for a possible platoon with Kratz if Dewey goes.Ron Ieracihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08784507810080514099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6207200414495313452.post-692907956886317272010-07-18T14:11:16.078-04:002010-07-18T14:11:16.078-04:00In other words, I'd rather have the modern ver...In other words, I'd rather have the modern version of Duffy Dyer than Ryan Doumit. I feel bad for the guy 'cuz of all the injuries, but I really think it's time for him to go.WilliamJPellashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12774466220683142262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6207200414495313452.post-62726870729994497312010-07-18T14:02:13.025-04:002010-07-18T14:02:13.025-04:00Agreed. I don't expect Kratz to be anything special, but I could certainly live with drastically improved defense if he could give us 300-400 at bats, a .240-ish average, and a dozen bombs. I think he's capable of those numbers. In any case, Kratz and Jaramillo can surely bridge the gap for a year or year and a half until Tony Sanchez gets here, and one of them can be his backup when he arrives.WilliamJPellashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12774466220683142262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6207200414495313452.post-51421290681997570602010-07-17T22:42:45.992-04:002010-07-17T22:42:45.992-04:00I have to say, Will, that it was refreshing watchi...I have to say, Will, that it was refreshing watching tonight's game - not one ball squirted under, past, or through Erik Kratz, nor was there a stolen base.Ron Ieracihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08784507810080514099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6207200414495313452.post-73094867164796256912010-07-17T12:15:07.349-04:002010-07-17T12:15:07.349-04:00Doumit is killing us defensively. His hitting, while good in the past, is not what it was; I think the wrist is still bothering him, and in any case he wasn't Mike Piazza, and even Piazza was better with his defense than what we see here. Doumit must go.WilliamJPellashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12774466220683142262noreply@blogger.com
