- Zach Morrison of Rant Sports discusses the interest the Bucs have in Oakland SS Jed Lowrie.
- Rich Dubroff of Orioles Insider debates whether the Birds should deal for DFA'ed Garrett Jones, who fits their wish list, or take the chance that they lose him to a waiver claim. San Diego is also looking for a lefty bat, but it's unknown if they have any interest in Jones.
- Matt Snyder of CBS Sports goes mad scientist and creates the perfect center fielder; much of his creation is a mash between Cutch and Mike Trout.
- John Dreker of Pirates Prospects notes in his winter league recap that Ivan DeJesus Jr., who the Bucs picked up as part of the Hanrahan/Holt trade and is a FA, "...could sign soon with the Baltimore Orioles, though nothing is final yet."
- Jim Callis of MLB.com likes the Pirate outfielders that are coming through the system. He says two should be in the Top 100 Prospects, a couple more just outside it, and there are still more behind them, making for a deep class at that spot.
"Somehow we have developed this large contingent of know-it-all baseball fans who bay like wounded coyotes at any mention of wins, losses, RBI or batting average. I never know whether I should blame myself for this or not.." (Bill James)
