Playing A Pair...

The Bucs Are On TV, yay...

  • Pittsburgh clubbed the Rays 10-5 yesterday. The Buccaneers batted around in the first and later, Russ Martin added  long ball.
  • The Bucs have a split squad DH today. They host the Bosox and visit the Orioles, both at 1:05. Root Sports will televise the Boston game, and The Fan 93.7 will air the Baltimore game.
  • The Boston lineup: Jaff Decker CF, Chris Dickerson LF, Travis Snider RF, Pedro 3B, Andrew Lambo 1B, Travis Ishikawa DH, Jordy Mercer SS, Robert Andino 2B and Chris Stewart C. Charlie Morton will start, followed by Tony Watson, Jason Grilli, Mark Melancon, Zack Thornton and Yao-Hsun Yang. It's Ishikawa's first game of the spring. Clint will be at the reins of the home team.
  • The Baltimore lineup: Starling Marte LF, Neil Walker 2B, Cutch CF, Gaby Sanchez 1B, Jose Tabata RF, Tony Sanchez C, Brent Morel DH, Clint Barmes 3B and Michael Martinez SS. Edinson Volquez will be on the hill, along with Brandon Cumpton, Jared Hughes, Andy Oliver and Jake Brigham. Jeff Banister will manage the club.
  • From Forbes to Federal checks out Gerrit Cole's arsenal - far and away, his least effective pitch is his 96 MPH heater, although it's tough to quantify its value as a set-up pitch for his offspeed stuff.
  • Allan Smith of Sports Media 101 posts that Wandy will make up for the loss of AJ Burnett, mainly because he can work to the strength of the Pirate defense, with the caveat that he has to match the innings. And he could; folk forget that Rodriguez worked between 190-205 IP from 2009-12.
