- Save some for the regular season: the Pirates beat the Jays 6-4 yesterday. Travis Snider conked a two-run homer. Buc starters have put together a 10-inning scoreless streak covering the past five spring games.
- Toronto comes to Bradenton for a rematch today at 1:05 PM which may or may not be played; rain is in the forecast. The lineup: Starling Marte LF, Jordy Mercer SS, Cutch CF, Gaby Sanchez DH, Brent Morel 1B, Neil Walker 2B, Jose Tabata RF, Chris Stewart C and Clint Barmes 3B. Gerrit Cole will start for Pittsburgh. Jason Grilli is slated to work a frame, with Jameson Taillon, Bryan Morris and Casey Sadler also on the list. (EDIT: the game was called; apparently the tornado watch did the trick.)
- 1B Stetson Allie is getting another aggressive push in the farm system according to Tim Williams of Pirates Prospects, heading to Class AA Altoona this season.
- Tommy Rancel of ESPN did a piece when AJ went to the Phils that we missed - how much will Burnett miss the shift?
- Baseball Reference has the spring stats page up and at 'em.
- Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors has a list of all the out-of-option players in NL Central camps.
"Somehow we have developed this large contingent of know-it-all baseball fans who bay like wounded coyotes at any mention of wins, losses, RBI or batting average. I never know whether I should blame myself for this or not.." (Bill James)
