Late Fireworks Key Bucs 10-2 Win

Part of Earl Weaver's trinity was the three run homer. Well, the Bucs went old school today and belted not one, but a pair of three run bombs by Cutch and The Kid that carried Pittsburgh to a 10-2 win over the Brewers.

The Bucs tallied first in the third frame on a Gregory Polanco single, plating Tony Sanchez. Carlos Gomez then cracked a two-run shot in the Brew Crew half to put Milwaukee ahead. Cutch gave the Bucs the lead in the sixth when his blast to right center brought home Polanco and Jordy Mercer ahead of him. The score remained 4-2 until the ninth when the Bucs broke it open, with a big assist from Khris Davis, who dropped a liner, making all six runs unearned. Cutch, Corey Hart and Mercer had RBI knocks, capped by Neil Walker's three run shot into right.

Sadler did a nice job; he gave up four hits and a walk while whiffing five in his five innings of work to earn the win. Jared Hughes, Arquimedes Caminero, Tony Watson and Radhames Liz brought it home.

Tony Sanchez had three hits while Polanco, Mercer and Cutch had a pair of knocks.

  • Not only was it Casey Sadler's first start, but it was also his first MLB win.
  • Another first: after hitting into a pair of hard outs, Jung-Ho Kang collected his first MLB hit, golfing a soft single into right center.
  • On the downslope, Starling Marte K'ed four times to earn a golden sombrero, although he did manage to get plunked once. El Coffee had two hits, but whiffed in his other three plate appearances.
  • Cutch admitted after the game that his knee is gimpy and he's doesn't foresee a quick recovery. But his quote speaks volumes:

  2. It's a nice site, Lee. And yep, I got Steve's B-Day right, lol. Too bad the dude kept breaking down physically for the Bucs.
