Rounds #3-10 In the Books...

You'd think these rounds would uncover a couple gems in the rough, and in the Huntington era, they have found a couple - Jordy Mercer and Justin Wilson made it to the show, Tyler Glasnow, Nick Kingham and Chad Kuhl are knocking on the door and Brock Holt, Alex Dickerson and JaCoby Jones are making noise for other clubs. But the reality is most of these guys are going to end up fringe MLB or organizational players.

Today, the Bucs hauled in a prep pitcher, several college arms, and three position players.

• Third Round (#105) - Tulane's Stephen Alemais, a glove first SS who should be able to stick at the position, strong arm, good speed, contact hitter. He slashed .311/.368/.401 with 19/24 steal rate. The FO likes zeroing in on SS's in the early rounds recently.
• Fourth Round (#135) - Jensen Beach HS (FL) LHP Braeden Ogle. The prep kid touches 96 and sits at 90-94 MPH with his number one and has a slider with a developing change. Like all HS hurlers, Ogle is raw and projectionable. He has a commitment to Florida.

• Fifth Round (#165) - RHP Blake Cederlind out of Merced CC. The 20 year old can bring the heat, touching 97, but is quite a wild child. Used mostly as a reliever, he pitched to a 3.75 ERA with 63 K in 57-2/3 innings. He's headed to UC-Davis.
• Sixth Round (#195) - Michigan State LHP Cam Vieaux. The junior went 7-4/2.28 w/77 K in 87 IP. He was drafted in the 19th round by the Tigers last year, but returned to campus to develop. Cam was the Spartans' Friday night starter with a 90 MPH heater, slider and change.
• Seventh Round (#225) - C Brent Gibbs of Central Arizona College. Nice bat for his level, hitting .396 with five homers and 38 RBI in 48 games, and he has a rep as a strong defensive backstop.
• Eighth Round (#255) - Cal State Fullerton RHP Dylan Prohoroff. He's a two pitch reliever with a mid-nineties heater and slider who had three saves/0.68 ERA and 30 K in 26-1/3 IP with just five walks.
• Ninth Round (#285) - CF Clark Eagan from Arkansas. The junior slashed .298/.370/.444 for the Razorbacks with seven long balls, and projects as a corner OF. Eagan is a switch hitter, which should help his cause. Arkansas considered playing him at third this year, so he also fills the versatility bill.
• Tenth Round (#315) - Morehead State RHP Matthew Anderson was the final pick of the day. Matt went 8-3/2.05 with 130 K in 91-1/3 IP. He led the Eagles in strikeouts all four years he tossed. Anderson throws a fastball (90-92), slider, curve and change; he considers the slider to be his out pitch.
