Notes: Bucs Drop 4-3 Decision; Blue Jays On Tap Today; Newman, Dickerson, Walker, Curve

Today: The Blue Jays visit the Bucs at LECOM Field in Bradenton for a 1:05 clash. The game will be aired by 93.7 The Fan. Nick Kingham gets the ball, facing off against ol' Bucco AJ Happ. Felipe Rivero, Michael Feliz, Clay Holmes, Dovydas Neverauskas and John Stilson are also on today's duty roster. The lineup: Adam Frazier LF, Josh Harrison 2B, Colin Moran 3B, David Freese 1B, Fran Cervelli C, S-Rod CF, Jordan Luplow RF, Jordy Mercer SS, Elias Diaz DH.

Yesterday: Another day, another loss. Cool Chad was in great form, using just 18 pitches to toss two clean frames. Trevor Williams and Kyle Crick were not. Williams gave up a run on two hits and a walk in 2/3 IP (and that was after whiffing the first two hitters; he was pulled after tossing 30 pitches) while Crick had the blown save/loss daily double, surrendering a pair in the seventh in a 4-3 defeat against Boston. The Bucs had nine hits, with Starling scoring a run and sending another home. The Kevins, Kramer & Newman, each banged out an extra-base knock. Newman and S-Rod tallied and J-Bell had an RBI.

Notes:
  • Adam Berry of MLB.com notes that Kevin Newman is getting some work at second in camp; he had been at short exclusively since college days.
  • ESPN Process Reports Jason Hanselman has a different spin on the Corey Dickerson deal, writing that he feels the Rays sold high on the swap. "The team got little worse in the here and now, while adding a guy they liked for tomorrow."
  • Neil Walker was talking a deal with the NYY; it seems like his desire for a multi-year agreement was a bridge too far for the Bronx Bombers to cross.
  • If you're looking for a reason to catch some Curve baseball this summer, here's 11 pretty good ones:
