Getaway Day - Willy v Lopez, Notes

Today: The getaway game starts at 2:10 at Guaranteed Rate Field and will be aired by AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan. Don't worry if you can't get a work hookup for today - the two teams meet again in Pittsburgh in a week.

Lineup: Adam Frazier LF, Gregory Polanco RF, Starling Marte CF, J-Bell 1B, Corey Dickerson DH, Elias Diaz C, Colin Moran 3B, S-Rod 2B & Jordy SS (Trevor Williams P). What, no Freeser in the getaway lineup?

Pitchers: RHP Trevor Williams (4-2, 2.63) closes the short set v RHP Reynaldo Lopez (0-2, 2.43). Willy is coming off a bumpy start of the year, giving up a couple of homers, but he yet has to surrender more than three runs in an outing. That's all the more remarkable considering he averages fewer than six whiffs a game while walking four, but he wiggles out of trouble better than Stormy Daniels. This will be his first look at the White Sox. Like Trevor, Lopez's last start was rough; he gave up four runs, the first time he's been tapped for more than a pair of scores this year. He's also similar in that he's not a big strikeout guy, can be a wild child and generally gives the team six good innings. He's another guy, like Giolito, who was claimed from the Nat's system. Lopez hasn't faced the Bucs before, and today looks like a good match of effective, soft contact pitchers going at it.

Notes:
  • Corey Dickerson recorded his 10th career four-hit game and his first as a Bucco last night.
  • Corey D and Cervy are basking in the limelight now, and deservedly so, but don't sleep on the bounce-back for Starling. He's reached base safely in 32 of his 36 games with a line of .291/.357/.475 and has five homers, 17 RBI, 25 runs scored, 15 walks, nine swiped sacks and four assists.
  • The Bucs are 7-2 in interleague play this year and 65-44 over the last six seasons.
