Milwaukee-Pittsburgh Round Two, Jamo v Chacin, Lineup & Notes

Today: The game starts at 7:10 and will be aired by AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan.

Pitchers: RHP Jameson Taillon (9-9, 3.58) gets the middle start versus RHP Jhoulys Chacin (13-4, 3.58). Jamo is 2-1/2.83 in his last four starts while averaging seven innings per outing, although he still has starts and fits during games with stretches spent dodging bullets and others of dominance. Taillon has made three starts against the Brewers in 2018, allowing five earned runs with 18 K's and five walks over 16 innings, so he's been pretty sturdy against Milwaukee though he hasn't gone very deep against them. Chacin has rebounded nicely from an ERA-busting beatdown in LA, going 3-0/1.42/.191 oppo BA in the three games since. He's been hard on the Bucs this year, giving up four runs on 14 hits in 17-2/3 IP in three starts (2.04 ERA) as another pitch-to-contact guy. The baseball gods haven't smiled on him support-wise; he has an 0-1 record in to show for that three-pack, and the Crew is 1-2 in his three trips to the bump.

Lineup: You're on your own today, gang - we're at a wedding. Click here for the batting order if it hasn't popped up somewhere yet.

Notes:
  • Cervy has a five-game hitting streak.
  • One thing that shouldn't be lost: The Pirates bullpen went 10 scoreless innings before Clayton's meltdown; they and Big Joe tossed 13 straight goose eggs. And this one shouldn't be pinned on Clint - he does some ouija board stuff, but he mostly made the smart money play given the circumstances yesterday.
  • The Pirates are 2-6 in their last eight games; five of those six losses have come by one run.
  • Insult to injury: According to @EliasSports, last night (OK, this morning) was the first time the Brewers have won when trailing by multiple runs in extra innings since August 14th, 1992 against the Red Sox. Teams were 0-58 this season when trailing by two or more runs in extra innings this season until the Brewer rally.
