Saturday: Yankees @ LECOM; Yesterday's Recaps and Notes as Bucs Ink More Guys

Game: The Yankees come to LECOM Park for a 1:05 game. The action will be carried by MLB Gameday.

Lineup: Pablo Reyes CF, Corey Dickerson DH, Lonnie Chisenhall RF, Josh Bell 1B, Melky Cabrera LF, Erik Gonzalez SS, Kevin Kramer 2B, Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B, Steven Baron C (Jordan Lyles P). Cole Tucker, Bryan Reynolds, Jason Martin, Will Craig and Jose Osuna will be the second wave.

Pitchers: RHP Jordan Lyles takes the bump v as the Bucs look for someone to take command of the battle for the fifth pitching spot. Felipe Vazquez, Keone Kela, Frankie Liriano, Richard Rodriguez and Dario Agrazal will follow Lyles.

Yesterdays Games: v Philly - The good news is that Nick Kingham went three innings; the bad news is that he gave up five runs on six hits with two homers. Jake Stallings dropped an opp-field two-run shot over the fence and Indy OF Jerrick Suiter added another dinger to make the final 7-3, Phillies.
v Toronto - Different dynamic here as Rookie Davis whiffed three in two hitless innings and the relievers, Michael Feliz and a string of minor leaguers, held off the Jays until the eighth when Eduardo Vera surrendered a solo long ball. The game was scoreless until the sixth, when Pat Kivlehan, who's had a great start, doubled and plated on a two-out error. That was it for the scoring; the teams pulled the plug after nine innings and kissed their sisters 1-1.

Notes:
  • The Pirates claimed RH reliever Jake Barrett, 27, off waivers from Giants and placed Chad Kuhl on the 60-day IL. He's a big guy at 6'-2", 240 lbs, and has slashed 2-4-4/4.05 (4.76 FIP) with Arizona, where he worked 93 IP/103 outings since 2016. Garrett had a strong '16 campaign, then bounced between the minors and show in the past couple of seasons. He features a good swing-and-miss slider (8.5 K/game), walks too many (4.3 BB/game) and has been homer prone (1.4 HR/game).
  • They also signed 23-year-old C Nick Garland, who graduated from Central Connecticut State and was actually on the indie Frontier League Washington Wild Things roster, as organizational depth. He fits the Pirates mold of good-glove, boring bat, backstop.
  • Altoona IF Alfredo Reyes, who's already seen some spring action out of minor league camp, was made an NRI, so he'll be hanging around as a springtime utility guy for a while longer.
