Notes:
  • Wonderin' what Rick Eckstein and Jacob Cruz are doing to earn their batting coach paychecks? Tim Williams of Pirates Prospects has a lengthy piece examining their approach.
  • Kevin Gorman of the Trib talks to and about Mitch Keller, the Bucs next big thing on the bump.
  • Alex Stumpf of Bucs Dugout picks the winners and losers after the Pirates first dozen spring games.
  • The Pirates agreed to a minor league deal w/LHP Robbie Ross, per Pirates Prospects John Dreker. Ross, 29, has spent parts of six seasons with Texas and Boston. He was in the White Sox system last year, but was released in mid-season with an elbow issue. Robbie has had some strong campaigns and is worth the dice roll to see if he's healthy.
  • Mark Tompkins of the the Tampa Bay Times explains manager Kevin Cash's barking during the Bucs-Rays game - he was mad that one of his players got HBP after two Buccos were beaned. And oddly, he's never been in the Reds organization.
  • After today, the next four Pirates games will be on TV, with tomorrow's BoSox match on ESPN and the next three on AT&T SportsNet, so it's a good week to eyeball the boys.
