Archie v Anibal Sanchez, Lineup & Notes

Game: The game starts in Washington at 4:05. The match will be on AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan. The weather shouldn't be an issue for a change - it's forecast to be cloudy and in the mid-70's.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Starling Marte CF, Fran Cervelli C, Josh Bell 1B, Colin Moran 3B, Melky Cabrera RF, JB Shuck LF, Erik Gonzalez SS, Chris Archer P. Hey, Redbeard starts against a rightie and JB gets a reward for his two-hit day.

Pitchers: RHP Chris Archer (1-0/2.45) meets RHP Anibal Sanchez (0-1/6.52). Archie didn't face the Nats last year, and is on borrowed time as he appeals his suspension. Sanchez seems to be the designated Keystone State hurler; after two starts against the Phils, he now draws the Bucs. He had a good outing against the Pirates last year, giving up one earned run in 5-1/3 innings with six whiffs, but didn't get a decision. He swapped spots with Max Scherzer for the series to allow Max's bruised leg an extra day to heal.

Notes:
  • Melky was supposed to have an off day yesterday after five straight starts, but he pinch hit and doubled. Shouldn't have taken much out of him, tho, as J-Mart came in to run for him. Clint wants him available to start over the weekend; he should be good to go (and is starting today).
  • C Elias Diaz hasn't caught a full game for Indy yet while on rehab, but in three contests (two as DH) he's gone 6-for-12.
  • Cole Tucker and Ke'Bryan Hayes have been getting most of the Indy love (and they deserve it) but don't go to sleep on Will Craig, The 1B has five homers, a .290 BA/.436 OBP slash and a tolerable 23% K rate in eight games for the Tribe. We're curious how the Pirates will handle the 24-year-old with J-Bell blocking him now if both keep on.
  • LHP Stephen Tarpley has been optioned to Scranton to clear CC Sabathia's roster spot. He was sent to Yankees as part of the Ivan Nova deal in 2016, and worked 14 games in 2018-19 with no decisions and a 3.75 ERA.
