Jordan v Jake Arrieta, Lineup & Notes

Game: The lidlifter starts at 7:05 and will be on AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan. It's a free-tee night, with tonight's offering being a 1979 Champs shirt as a lead-in into tomorrow's celebration of the '79 Buccos. It's also Dollar Doggie Night, pass the mustard, yum.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Bryan Reynolds RF, Starling Marte CF, Josh Bell 1B, Colin Moran 3B, Corey Dickerson LF, Kevin Newman SS, Eli Diaz C, Jordan Lyles P. Hey, the A-Team, yay!

Trying to get the good times rollin' again - image Positively Pittsburgh

Pitchers: RHP Jordan Lyles (5-6, 5.16) vs. RHP Jake Arrieta (8-7, 4.54). As good as Lyles was to start the campaign, well, that's how bad he's been lately. His line is 1-5/10.13 in his last seven games. Jordan hasn't started against Philly since 2015 and hasn't taken the hill against them since he tossed an inning in 2017; he's 1-1-1/3.22 v the Phils in 10 career appearances.  Arrieta hasn't exactly been a ball of fire himself; since May 31st, he's 3-3/6.07 in eight starts. In justice, he's pitching hurt - he has a bone spur in his elbow but is trying to get through the season before surgery. Jake owned the Bucs, then lost his vintage mojo for a couple of years, just to have it return last season when he went 2-0/1.29 against them, giving up two runs on seven hits in 14 IP w/18 K.

Notes:
  • The Phils went 3-4 at home after the break, but they did take 2-of-3 from the Dodgers in the last set and have won six of the last seven matches against the Pirates.
  • A name that's kinda bubbled around the edges in trade talks has been that of Indy 1B Will Craig. He's prob not ready for prime time, but when he gets there, he has a big block in front of him in J-Bell. He can play the position and shows some power, so Will could be an interesting piece for someone.
  • Keone Kela bounced back strong; after getting banged in his prior rehab outing, he struck out the side on 11 pitches last night. The Pirates hope to use him again tonight to see if he's ok for back-to-back outings.
