Offday Notebook: Trade Stuff & Assorted Randomness

Off day stuff...
  • Jordan Lyles is reportedly on the market, per MLB Trade Rumors, joining Corey Dickerson, Melky Cabrera and maybe even Felipe Vazquez. Robert Murray, Milwaukee Brewer beat man and The Athletic writer, adds Frankie to the list.
  • Will Lietch of MLB.com thinks the Pirates are better off if they sit out the deadline dance.
  • How much did the 1-5 roadtrip hurt? The Pirates went from 2-1/2 games behind the Cubs before the break to 6-1/2 today. They're four games back for the second wildcard with six teams ahead of them for that spot.
  • Josh Bell has gone nine straight games without an RBI; he's driven in two runs in the past 13 contests.

  • A couple more reports on the Bucco wounded: Rookie Davis' blister has recovered enough that he can toss a bullpen now. Edgar Santana, like Chad Kuhl a TJ victim last year, is beginning to throw off a mound. JT Brubaker and Lonnie Chisenhall are still in R&R mode.
  • Toronto DFA'ed Nick Kingham; apparently he's pretty broken right now.
  • Pirates Charities will present the opening night of “Heading Home, the Tale of Team Israel,” tonight at Regent Square Theatre in Edgewood at 5 PM. The screening is free, and will be followed by a Q&A session with MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo, broadcaster Greg Brown and team president Frank Coonelly.
