Dario v Jordan Lyles, Lineup & Notes

Game: The kickoff against the Brew Crew will be at 7:05, aired by AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan. It should be a nice night by gametime, although there's a chance for pop up showers.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Bryan Reynolds LF, Starling Marte CF, Josh Bell 1B, Jose Osuna RF, Colin Moran 3B, Kevin Newman SS, Elias Diaz C, Dario Agrazal P. More Joey O; we like him getting a long look.

Pitchers: RHP Dario Agrazal (2-2/3.65) takes on RHP Jordan Lyles (6-7/5.15), who should be familiar with tonight's territory. Dario has returned to earth with a thud in his past two outings, giving up five homers in nine innings. He met the Brew Crew a month ago, giving up two solo shots in six innings but winning big, 12-2. Jordan had one quality start in two months for the Pirates, was traded to Milwaukee, and promptly spun a five-inning three hitter. He's 1-5 against his old mateys lifetime, but that win came last year and it is a homecoming tonight (without a vid, we hope), so we'll see what's up. Some think that like other Pirates pitchers, he came back from his hamstring injury too soon because of the precarious state of the Bucco rotation; others blame regression.

Notes:
  • The last time these two teams met was just before the ASG; Pittsburgh took 2-of-3 and was in the hunt, 2-1/2 games off the lead. Good times...
  • The Bucs are 4-18 since the break. Felipe Vazquez has become collateral damage, with just one save since then, on July 16th against the Cards. He's been used just six times for six innings, giving up no runs, one hit, one walk, and posting nine K. (Which, btw, should not devalue him; hopefully he's one guy who the FO gets full value for when they move him.)
  • The Pirates aren't the only ones struggling this month. The Brewers got swept by the Cubs over the weekend, losing four straight and six-of-seven as their attack has fizzled.
  • The Blue Jays released once-upon-a-time hot Pirates prospect, IF Alen Hanson.
