Dario v Trevor Bauer, Lineup & Notes

Game: The getaway Sunday matinee starts at 1:35 and will be on AT&T SportsNet and 93.7 The Fan. It's Kid's Day, with the pregame activities, base-running afterwards, and a free Players Weekend jersey for the 14-and-under crowd. And who'd a thunk it? The Bucs are going for a sweep.

Lineup: Kevin Newman SS, Bryan Reynolds LF, Starling Marte CF, Josh Bell 1B, Colin Moran 3B, Jose Osuna RF, Adam Frazier 2B, Elias Diaz C, Dario Agrazal P.

Pitchers: RHP Dario Agrazal (2-3/4.09) closes out the set against RHP Trevor Bauer (10-10/4.06). Dario's been a pleasant surprise, with one red flag - after giving up three homers in his first five outings covering 28 IP, he's given up seven over 14 frames in his last three starting trips. So he's got to cut back serving up meatballs. His last go against the Reds got him sent back to Indy, as he gave up three runs (w/two dingers) on six hits in 3-2/3 IP on July 31st. Bauer, a trade deadline pickup, is still getting his feet wet in the NL. He's made four starts and gone 1-2/5.87, though he does have 30 K in 23 IP. Last year, he beat the Bucs handily as an Indian, giving up no runs on two hits with 10 whiffs in a seven-inning outing.

Notes:
  • Two Bucs - Starling and J-Bell, the two team MVPs - were bopped last night. No Red has been bruised as of yet. Wonder what David Bell's thoughts on that are?
  • Even though "Hells Bells" plays in the ninth at PNC Park, NH hasn't talked Trevor Hoffman out of retirement - Felipe Vazquez has borrowed the walk-in for Players Weekend.
  • If you think that Jake is getting a lot of time behind the dish, you're right. Clint said he and Eli are pencilled in to share time for the remainder of the campaign as the Pirates evaluate life w/o Amore.
  • The Pirates start a seven-game road trip after today, with three games at Philly and four against the Rox.
  • Cervy had quite a return. Last night, he went 3-for-5 for the Bravos in his first game since May 25th with two doubles, three RBI, a run scored and threw out a runner trying to steal. He had three doubles and five RBI in 109 at bats as a Bucco this year.
