Steven v Chase Anderson, Lineup & Notes

Game: First pitch is at 7:05 with the game carried by AT&T SportsNet & 93.7 The Fan. It's Pup In the Park Night.

Lineup: Adam Frazier 2B, Bryan Reynolds LF, Starling Marte CF, Jose Osuna 1B, Colin Moran 3B, Elias Diaz C, Pablo Reyes RF, Erik Gonzalez SS, Steven Brault P. Guess the newbies had to start sooner or later; Joey O has started three straight games at three different positions. Josh Bell is out of the lineup until Friday; Clint wants to "unplug" him to see if the break gets him going again.

Pitchers: LHP Steven Brault (3-1/4.15) meets RHP Chase Anderson (5-2/3.73). Steven was on a roll (2-0/2.20 from May 24th onward) before he got hurt; now we'll find out how much rust has built up during his month off. He faced the Brew Crew once this year, giving up two runs in 6-1/3 IP in a game the bullpen lost 5-2. Anderson is a five or six inning guy, and has been effective if not particularly an inning-eater: in his last eight outings, he hasn't surrendered more than two runs. He's 1-0/3.60 in three starts against Pittsburgh this year, so Chase and the Bucs have seen each other plenty.

Notes:
  • MLB.com has everyone's personal nickname listed for the upcoming Players Weekend; here's the whole MLB list. A little scrolling will get ya to the Bucco monikers; bonus points if you know "El Gocho" from "Flaco Fuerte" from "Tomkin."
  • The Pirates have three Top 100 Prospects per MLB Pipeline: 28) RHP Mitch Keller, 39) 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes, and 62) SS Oneil Cruz. The first pair are estimated to reach the MLB in 2019; Oneil's due date is 2021.
  • Cory Giger of the Altoona Mirror reports on Curve manager Michael Ryan, who had a serious leg infection last week that was treated literally just in the nick of time.
  • OF Jordan Luplow, who was sent to Cleveland in the offseason as part of the Eric Gonzalez deal, was placed on the 10-day IL with a sore hammy. He's batting .271 with 11 HR for the Tribe in mostly a platoon/bench bat role (69 games/216 PA).
