Notes: Prospects, Ex's On The Move, MLB/CBA

Winter doldrums...

Notes:

  • Keith Law of The Athletic (behind a paywall) selected his Top 100 Prospects. Bucco pups included were #20 - C Henry Davis; #57 - RHP Quinn Priester; # 65 - SS Oneil Cruz; #77 - SS Liover Peguero; #83 - RHP Roansy Contreras and #93 - 2B Nick Gonzales, the usual with-a-bullet gang this season.
  • Eric Longenhagen of Fangraphs rated his Top 61 Pittsburgh prospects and has a report on each and every one.
  • Will Laws of SI takes a look at borderline HoF guys still playing. Cutch is on the list, but Laws considers him a longshot.
Pedro movin' on to the FO - 2010 Topps Opening Day
  • Petey sighting: the Brewers named Pedro Álvarez as assistant - baseball operations and player development. El Toro had an in - he's the son in law of Milwaukee bench coach Pat Murphy. Kevin Gorman of the Trib looks at the hire.
  • RHP Montana DuRapau, 29, retired. His MLB experience consisted of 14 games with the Bucs in 2019; he had been in the Buc system since 2014 after being drafted out of Bethune-Cookman U in the 32nd round. He worked for the A's AA Midland club last season.
  • As reported by Baseball Prospectus, every MLB team is guaranteed $60.1M in national TV revenues for 2022.
  • CBA negotiators met this week with no apparent progress. In fact, it's been reported by Yahoo's Jeff Passen that the MLB asked for federal mediators to be assigned to the talks. The MLBPA, not too surprisingly, didn't agree the request, noting that the owners haven't presented any counter proposals to negotiate. So it's the snail v molasses race to a deal...
