Baseball America released its Top Twenty Prospects List for the Eastern League today, and Altoona pitchers Bryan Morris and repeat Pirate Minor League Pitcher of the Year Rudy Owens were rated fourteenth and fifteenth.
RHP Morris, 23, was 6-4 with a 4.25 ERA after being called up from Bradenton. He struck out 84 and walked 31 in 89 innings, and spent the end of the year in the bullpen to limit his 2010 innings. Morris features a 92-94 MPH heater with an upper eighties curve, with the potential to be #3 starter in the bigs.
Owens, 22 (he'll turn 23 in December), was 21-6 with a 2.45 ERA. He K'ed 132 and walked just 23 in 150 innings of work with a WHIP of .0980. He's a control guy with a low 90 heater and mix of pitches, and is considered a middle of the staff rotation prospect.
