Meek Up, Presley Down

The abused Buc bullpen picked up another arm to use tonight when Alex Presley was swapped out for Evan Meek. They did need another pitcher. After a string of short starts and Erik Bedard making his first appearance since back cramps last week, some insurance was expected.

Presley was in a 3 for 42 funk and couldn't get the ball out of the infield, so some everyday playing time may be what he needs to get his swing and head back together. Meek was sent down to see if he could ramp up his heater another notch and more importantly, to try to locate it better. He did well enough at Indy - 6 shutout innings, giving up two hits, two walks and K'ing five -so we'll see if the work translates.

They'll be another move made once the rotation puts together a couple of longer outings and allows the pen to catch its breath. Right now, they have eight guys there, and that's one too many. Lotta bat options, none of which are slam-dunks or named Starling Marte, so we'll see what Plan B is when it arrives.

For the time being, it looks like Yamaico Navarro and Garrett Jones will work the swing shift in right field.
