RHP A.J. Burnett (15-6, 3.68) faces the Reds' RHP Homer Bailey (10-9, 4.03). AJ has lost three of his last four games; seems like he's been stuck on 15 wins forever. The Buc edge: Bailey is much better on the road
(7-2/2.75 ERA) than home (3-7/5.36 ERA) as homers have hurt him, and the ball flies at GABP. The game begins at 7:10 and will be aired by
Root Sports.
The lineup: Brock Holt 2B, Alex Presley LF, Andrew McCutchen 1B, Garrett Jones RF, Gaby Sanchez 1B, Pedro Alvarez 3B, Clint Barmes SS, Rod Barajas C, AJ Burnett.
- St. Louis and LA both lost yesterday, too. Maybe Milwaukee and Philly will end up slugging it out for that last wildcard spot. Here's some Ripley's stuff: Despite going 4-10 in their last 14 games, the Pirates have gained a half game in the race for the final wild card spot.
- Brock Holt is hitting .375 (15-for-40) and has a seven game hitting streak.
- The Bucs have gone 4-for-32 (.125) with runners in scoring position (RISP) in their last three games
- Tomorrow’s day off will be the final one of the season for the Pirates. Beginning Friday, the club is scheduled to play 20 games in the final 20 days.
- Just in case you're all a'flutter over 2013, guess what - the schedule for next season is out. Opening day at PNC Park is April 1st against the Cubs. The Mariners, Astros, Tigers and A's are the AL visitors to the ol' ballyard in 2013. The Bucs go to Texas, LA, Seattle and Detroit (the M's and Tigers are home-and-home series).
