The Twins must have a bird dog watching Pittsburgh. Last year, they signed Dewey, and this season they've inked a pair of Indy guys, OF/C Eric Fryer and RHP Tim Wood.
Fryer, 27, in very limited at-bats for the Bucs, hit .267/.353 without an extra base hit in his 34 MLB PA. But he is versatile and has a .273 lifetime BA in the minors.
Wood, 30, is 1-4-1/4.50 in his 57 appearances with Florida and Pittsburgh. He had 21 saves and a 2.19 ERA at Indy last season with 67 K in 70 IP, throwing in the mid-to-upper 90s. He was named by Baseball America as the best reliever in the International League for the second straight season.
Both were signed to minor league deals, with Wood getting a spring training invite.
