It's good to see some April role reversal going on this year. In 2014, Pittsburgh staggered from the gates, and much of that was due to a 1-6 record that month against Milwaukee. This campaign, the Pirates are 3-1 against their nemesis, and the Brewers are helping keep the Bucs from another slow-as-molasses start. Let's hope that the good times keep rollin' on. After all, it's fireworks night, and it'd be nice to see the Bucco bats join the Zambelli Bros in putting on a show.

Today's Game: Jeff Locke faces Kyle Lohse. Locke has been workmanlike in his career against the Brew Crew, and already has a solid 6-2 win under his belt against them this season. Lohse is traditionally a Bucco killer, but Pittsburgh solved him at Milwaukee earlier this year, scoring four runs in 6-1/3 frames on the way to a 10-2 romp. The game starts at 7:05 and will be aired by
Root Sports and
93.7 The Fan.
The Lineup: Josh Harrison 3B, Gregory Polanco RF, Cutch CF, Neil Walker 2B, Starling Marte LF, Pedro 1B, Fran Cervelli C, Jordy Mercer SS, Locke P.
The A Team is back in action in its usual lineup.
- The Pirates have not committed an error in 62 consecutive innings.
- Clint Hurdle passed Lloyd McClendon for ninth place on the club’s all-time managerial win list, taking his 337th Bucco win last night. With 870 career victories, Hurdle ranks fifth among active managers in that category.
- In what's primarily a paper move, Jaff Decker was optioned to the Indy roster after his rehab.
- Lotta bus miles about to be logged: Indy is starting an 11 game road trip.
- Over 5,000 runners showed up for the Pirates 5K Run For Home today, a funder for the Pirate Charities, the team's philanthropic arm.
