Pirate Reds Game 2: Cole Train Takes the Hill, Lineup Tweaked

Today's Game: Gerrit Cole (4-0, 1.76 ERA) takes on Mike Leake (1-1, 3.03 ERA) tonight. Cole Train has been the Bucco ace and stopper  to date, as well as the Pitcher of the Month in April. This is Cole's fourth start against the Reds; oddly, three have been against Leake, who he met last month during a no decision. Leake was strong in his last outing, limiting the Braves to two hits and no runs over eight frames, and is 6-3/3.28 v the Pirates lifetime.. The game starts at 7:05 and will be aired on Root Sports and 93.7 The Fan.

Today's Lineup:

Clint's getting used to having Kang a swing or two; today he's giving Jordy a blow. The lineup has been doctored, too - The Kid moves to second and Jay-Hay drops to the seven hole while his bat remains in the deep freeze.

  • Andrew Lambo was placed on the DL (retro to 4 May) because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot and Pittsburgh called up Steve Lombardozzi. The switch-hitter was batting .379 and has the versatility Hurdle looks for, having played both corner outfields and 3B-SS-2B for Indianapolis. He was added to the 40-man roster w/o any corresponding moves needed.
  • Jayson Stark of ESPN has the Bucs included in his piece "...Five Contenders Facing Critical Questions."
  • John Dreker of Pirates Prospects reported that Indianapolis' Nick Kingham called for the trainer in his game this afternoon and went to the locker room; we'll see what develops from that regarding the Bucco hotshot.
