Pitchers: RHP Jameson Taillon (5-6, 4.05) takes on Pittsburgh favorite RHP Jake Arrieta (5-6, 3.54). Since the end of April Jamo has been better but still pretty vanilla, with a 3-4/3.72 slash. Jake was on fire in May but showing his age since with a 6.16 ERA in six starts, although his support has been less than stellar - the Phillies' defense has led to nine unearned runs and extended innings in those half dozen games. The two are staging a rematch that was all Arietta in April, as Jake set down the Bucs on one hit/10 K through seven innings while Philly chased JT in the second frame during a 7-0 Phils romp. He has a career line of 11-6/3.01 ERA against the Pirates.

Notes:
- Pittsburgh activated RHRP Michael Feliz from the DL, called RHP Alex McRae (3-7/4.61) from Indy and optioned LHP Josh Smoker & RHP Dovy Neverauskas back to Indy.
- The Pirates have lost four in a row and been outscored 48-13 over that span.
- Fran Cervelli could return to the roster as early as tomorrow.
- Chad Kuhl is going to get another opinion outside of the organization on his arm injury. He hasn't thrown at all since June 26th.
- Altoona LHP Taylor Hearns was named to MLB Pipeline's All-Prospect Team of the Week. Since mid-May, he's been just 2-2 but with a 2.30 ERA & 62 K in 54-2/3 IP.
- The Giants must really scour the Pirates system; they just brought up Chase d'Arnaud, another old Bucco.
