Today's Game:
Steven Brault started on the hill against the Bravos, followed by Miguel Yajure (he and Brault worked two frames), Chris Stratton, Edgar Santana, Sam Howard, Sean Poppen and Nick Mears. They'll be joined by Fraze at second at long last, E-Gon at short and Anthony Alford in center.
Well, the tossing couldn't get much better as the Bucs had a no-hit shutout with two gone in the ninth. Nick Mears gave up a dink single to right and eventually balked a run home (he walked two and bopped one to go with the balk; only a DP saved him from a spanking). But in the overall scheme it didn't make a whole lot of diff as Pittsburgh rock 'n' rolled again with a 10-1 over Atlanta.
Ke'Bryan picking up where he left off - 2016 Inception |
The Pirates rattled off 17 hits, with Adam Frazier and Erik Gonzalez each collecting three raps. Ke'Bryan Hayes, Hunter Owen, Alford and Joe Hudson each added a pair of hits. Owen and Troy Stokes Jr. went long. Let the good times roll.
Notes:
- The Pirates used 17 position players; 12 reached base via hit or walk.
- Pittsburgh has taken its past two games by a combined 23-2 score, won three in a row and four-of-five. Sure beats last spring...
Tomorrow's Game:
The Bucs take a trip to see the Bronx Bombers at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. Pitching will be Tyler Anderson, Michael Feliz, Richard Rodriguez, David Bednar, Geoff Hartlieb, Blake Cederlind and Braeden Ogle. The game will be on KDKA 1020/PRN with a 6:35 starting time.
