The campfires are lit...
Pirates Stuff:
- The Pirates have signed LHP Blake Townsend, 23, to a minor league contract. The Aussie reliever has spent most of his career in the Seattle organization with a brief stop in Altoona last year. His '24 Hi-A/AA line was 2-1/2.35 with a K per inning.
- OF Tommy Pham was officially added to the roster on Sunday. RHP Dauri Moreta (rehabbing from TJ surgery) was placed on the 60-day IL to clear a 40-man slot.

- Already...1B Spencer Horwitz will miss 6-8 weeks due to a right thumb/wrist injury that required surgery. He's in camp (the procedure was last week), but in a cast.
- Shelty plans to use Bryan Reynolds in RF this year and Tommy Pham in left.
- Dave Parker's Hall of Fame plaque will show his image topped by a Pirates cap when it's unveiled this summer. The Cobra played 19 MLB seasons, the first 11 with the Bucs. Parker won his two National League batting titles and the 1978 NL-MVP Award in Pittsburgh, where he also earned three Gold Gloves and was part of the 1979 World Series championship club.
Other Stuff:
- The White Sox and CF Michael A. Taylor agreed on a one-year/$1.95M deal with performance bonuses. Taylor spent '24 with the Bucs and hit .193.
- OF Jake Marisnick, 34, is in camp with the Braves as a NRI; the glove-first guy got into 31 games here in 2022 around thumb surgery, hit .234 and was released.
- KC signed a minor-league deal with C Luke Maile. He was a Pirates pick-up in 2020 but was injured and missed the entire season.
- RHP Shelby Miller, who began a comeback of sorts with the Bucs in 2021, joined his sixth club in five years when he signed a minor-league NRI deal with Arizona.
