More Saturday Stew

-- Erik Kratz ended up the guy being sent to Indy to clear space for Dewey. carrying three catchers on the 25-man and Jeff Clements rejuvenated bat were too much for his mitt to overcome.

-- Ryan Doumit rejoined the roster today, but isn't in the starting lineup. We wonder if he'll play in tomorrow's get-away game. Chris Snyder has backstopped every inning since his recent arrival to Pittsburgh, and tomorrow is an off day.

Since the McCutch-JT-Thrilledge outfield is interchangeable, he may end up being the spare outfielder when one of them gets a blow. There are only three weeks until September call-ups when Erik Kratz and JJ can return, so Dewey could conceivably just get a couple or three games behind the dish until then.

-- The State College Spikes had three players named to the New York-Penn League All-Star Game; 1B Matt Curry, OF Adalberto Santos, and LHP Jhonathan Ramos.

Curry, 22, was selected from TCU in the 16th round of the 2010 MLB Draft. The lefty's line is .331/3/19 in 21 games.

Santos, 22, was drafted out of Oregon State drafted in the 22nd round of this year's draft. The right-handed hitter's line is .313/2/29.

Ramos, a Venezuelan native who turned 21 today, has a 3-1 record with a 1.54 ERA and one save. He's a converted starter who's held opponents to a .169 BA.
