-- Paul Maholm goes against John Lannan tonight. Gametime is 7:05 PM and will be aired by Root Sports.
-- The lineup: Andrew McCutchen CF, Jose Tabata LF, Neil Walker 2B, Matt Diaz RF, Steve Pearce 1B, Brandon Wood 3B, Chris Snyder C, Ronny Cedeno SS, Paul Maholm P.
Clint Hurdle goes with his all-righty lineup today; Pedro and Lyle Overbay take a seat. We'll see how the Bucs bounce back from the thumping at Milwaukee; at least they showed some resilience yesterday and a hint of breaking out of their offensive doldrums.
-- Evan Meek threw a clean inning for Indy today, striking out one while using a dozen pitches.
-- Tim Williams of Pirates Prospects builds the case against the Bucs taking prep pitcher Dylan Bundy as a fallback plan in the draft.
-- LHP Garrett Olson joined the Indy DL with a strained oblique.
-- A little blogosphere war of words has broken out re: the Joey Bats deal. Simply put, the FO had him pegged as a third baseman, and that was Andy LaRoche's spot going forward. He was dealt for Robinzon Diaz, so the rest of the league surely didn't think he was ready to blow up. Give Bautista credit for hanging in there and the Blue Jays credit for coaching him up.
Personally, we credit his delayed development to his Rule 5 year; it's probably screwed up more careers than its launched.
