Charlie v Jimmy Nelson; Lineup (Starling Still Out) & Notes

Today's Game - Charlie Morton (4-7, 8.07) faces Jimmy Nelson (11-11, 3.86) in the second game of the Milwaukee match-up. Morton had a pretty good outing against the Cards last time out, and that will hopefully carry over. He's been up-and-down this year, and his extreme ground ball ratio has been more evenly split since the AS break. Charlie has split two games with Milwaukee this year, winning a 2-0 decision and on the short end of a 4-1 loss. Overall, he's not so hot against the Brew Crew, going 3-7/4.27 ERA in 13 career starts.

Nelson has been murder on Pittsburgh, going 4-1 with a 1.72 ERA against the Bucs and equally at home whether at PNC Park or Miller Field. The game begins at 7:05 and will be aired by Root Sports and 93.7 The Fan.

Starling's out; wonder how badly he hurt his shoulder when he was clocked by a pitch last night? Stew is giving Fan a break, not too surprising after a 13 inning game. A-Ram is back at first.
  • Cutch didn't just join the Bucco elite when he entered the 150 HR/SB club. Andrew is only the eighth player to produce at least 150 home runs and 150 steals in his first seven seasons in the majors; the others are Willie Mays, Bobby Bonds, Darryl Strawberry, Eric Davis, Barry Bonds, Alfonso Soriano and Matt Kemp.
  • Since 2010, Cutch & Pedro are two-three in HRs hit against the Brewers with 23 and 19. Jay Bruce has done the most damage with 25 long flies during that span.
  • Jeff Sullivan of Fangraphs tries to make sense of the new & improved Jay Happ.
  • C Elias Diaz is the only guy on the September roster who hasn't gotten any game action yet.
