Hohoho; hardly a thing shakin' during the holidays on the Bucco front:
- The Pirates announced the hire of coach Glenn Sherlock. He'll be coaching catchers and and focus on run prevention. He’ll also assist with game prep and in-game management; sounds like Sherlock will be a sounding board/quality control dude for the new braintrust. He's worked previously with the Yankees, D-Backs and Mets, serving as a minor league manager/coach, bullpen coach, bench coach, catching coach, first base coach and third base coach during his 30-year career. Glenn does bring 20+ seasons of NL coaching to the table to help balance Shelty's young & AL-heavy staff.

- Cutch and his wife, Maria, welcomed their second child, Armani X McCutchen, on Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas indeed for the McCutchen clan!
- BTW, players helping out the community isn't a new thing. Slugger Frank Thomas, a Bucco star of the fifties, is still doing good deeds at age 90.
- Often left in the shadow of Honus Wagner, Frank Garland of Bucs Dugout reminds us not to sleep on old Bucco Arky Vaughan - Bill James once selected him as the second greatest SS in MLB history, just behind the Flying Dutchman.
- C Fran Cervelli agreed to a one-year/$2M contract with the Marlins. OF Corey Dickerson has also signed a two-year/$17.5M deal with the Marlins. Feel free to provide your own hot takes.
