Guess who report Monday... Not much shakin' unless they decide on a late pot-stirring, particularly in the middle infield/rotation. Otherwise, Shelty & the new braintrust are just looking for a CF, and some depth at C, & pitching.
- Compliments of Chris Adamski of the Tribune-Review, here is the Bucco 40-man camp roster and a quick take on the players, plus a list of NRI's (add C Arden Pabst from Altoona, who was a late invite).
- Quick preseason notes: This is the 52nd consecutive year the Pirates have trained in Bradenton. Pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 10th this year; position players on the 16th. Both begin workouts two days after reporting. The Grapefruit League home opener is scheduled for Feb. 22nd against the Minnesota Twins. The regular season starts March 26th at Tampa Bay; the Home Opener is April 2nd against the Reds.
- Dan Szymborski and his ZiPS rankings aren't particularly kind to the Pirates this year.

- Per Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic, David Eckstein is back w/the Bucs in his old role as a special assistant; Jeff Banister hasn't made up his mind whether to come back after losing out to Dusty Baker for the Astro job.
- Sean Rodriguez has signed a minor league deal w/the Fish. S-Rod played for the Phils last year, batting .238.
