- The shuffle continues: The Pirates claimed RHP Ashton Goudeau, 28, (0-0/7.41 in four MLB outings) off waivers from the Rockies and 1B Will Craig, 26, has been DF'ed, leaving the Bucs awfully prospect-thin at first. Goudeau was a swingman between starting and the pen, so it'll be interesting to see how the Pirates use him. Craig was a 2016 first-rounder with a good glove, power and a lot of swings & misses on his resume.
- No big surprise here: Jose Osuna has signed a one-year deal to play for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
- Trevor Williams cleared waivers and was outrighted to Indy; he declared for free agency. Ditto for OF Jason Martin.
- Jason Mackey of the Post Gazette passes along Baseball America's glowing review (behind a paywall) of Bucco prospect RHP Quinn Priester.
- The Atlanta Braves signed two-time All-Star and ex-Bucco Charlie Morton to a one year/$15M contract.
- Mel Rojas Jr, an outfielder drafted by the Bucs in 2010 who made it to AAA before being traded to the Braves in 2016, is hoping to turn a super Korean season into a ticket to MLB.
