- Ah, it's camp time, and the NRI's have been announced. Vet guys inked and invited are 3B/OF Miguel Andujar, C Tyler Heineman, RHPs Tyler Chatwood & Nate Webb, LHPs Daniel Zamora, Rob Zastryny & Angel Perdomo and recently signed Mr. Versatility, Chris Owings. 40-man roster minor-league campers will be C Endy Rodriguez, RHPs Mike Burrows & Colin Selby and IFs Liover Peguero & Jared Triolo. Non-40 man roster prospects will be RHPs Quinn Priester, Kyle Nicolas, Jared Jones, Carmen Mlodzinski, Cody Bolton & Wei-Chieh Huang; IFs Termarr Johnson, Nick Gonzales, Malcom Nunez, Andres Alvarez, & Drew Maggi; OFs Matt Gorski & Lolo Sanchez and Cs Henry Davis, Jason Delay & Carter Bins. - ...Oooops, make that 66 - the Bucs signed RHP Juan Minaya to an NRI deal, per John Dreker of Pirates Prospects. He had a tough year in '22, but in six MLB seasons, the 32-year-old has a slash of 9-5-10/3.69, working four years for the White Sox and two campaigns for Minnesota.

- Pirates 1B Choi Ji-man has been removed from the Korean WBC team roster. The Pirates were opposed to Choi playing because of his November elbow surgery; they want to be able to monitor and adjust his work/recovery schedule.
- The prospect lists continue - The Athletic's (subscription required) Keith Law's Top 100 include Pirate pups #18 IF Termarr Johnson, #30 C Henry Davis, #34 C/OF Endy Rodriguez, #64 RHP Quinn Priester and #100 two-way guy Bubba Chandler. Law ranks the Pirates farm system as sixth best in baseball.
- Kiley McDaniel of ESPN (also requires a subscription) rates three guys in his Top 100 - #24 Johnson, #42 Rodriguez and #68 Davis. Three other prospects were mentioned who were part of the up-and-coming gang outside the rankings - Priester, 2B/OF Ji-Hwan Bae and IF Liover Peguero. McDaniel ranks the Bucco farm system as MLB's #9 group.
- Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors has the current status of the Bryan Reynolds impasse.

- Mars Area HS retired alum David Bednar's #24 (he was a Junior fan) this weekend. It's the first time in school history that a player's number has been recognized.
- All 30 clubs will play this year on Roberto Clemente Day (Friday, September 15th). The Pirates are hosting the NY Yankees at PNC Park at 6:35 PM.
- Well, it's about time: Celeb mags report that former Pirate Cole Tucker is engaged to his longtime bae, singer and actress Vanessa Hudgens.
- RHP Chad Kuhl signed an NRI deal with the Nats, Cool Whip slashed 6-11/5.72 with Colorado last year while missing time with hip and tricep injuries.
