Lineup (subs): Adam Frazier RF, Jordy Mercer SS (Alen Hanson), Josh Bell 1B, (Joey Terdoslavich), David Freese 3B (Erich Weiss), Elias Diaz C (Jackson Williams), Chris Bostick 2B (Gift Ngoepe), Austin Meadows CF (Eudy Perez), Barrett Barnes LF, Ivan Nova P. Yep, Ivan's batting; the Bics, as per their MO, won't use the DH at home anymore this spring. It's also his first outing against his old Blue Bomber mates. Josh Bell is getting his first action of the spring after his knee procedure so at least one more regular will be around during the WBC hiatus.

Pitchers: Ivan Nova, Josh Lindblom, Felipe Rivero, Juan Nicasio, Edgar Santana & Dovydas Neverauskas. "Something old, something new..."
Yesterday's Game: The Bucs lost 3-2, with each Yankee run tainted - missed plays, wild pitches, hit batters...mama said there'd be days like this. We can probably expect a couple more like this with the bubble guys filling in during the WBC. The bad news is Antonio Bastardo had another not very good day; the good news is that Jameson Taillon looked sharp after a meh first outing and Clay Holmes continued to impress. The Bucco runs were chased home by Barrett Barnes with a bloop single and a Christian Kelley sac fly, but the attack was hamstrung by a trio of caught stealings.
Notes:
- Matt Snyder of CBS Sports lists the best options for leadoff for all the MLB teams in his mind. For the Pirates, he comes up with Josh Bell/Fran Cervelli.

- We're a little curious about Stew; he hasn't seen much work yet this spring. We wonder if that's by plan or if his knee is still cranky; guess we'll see with Fran away at the WBC. Stew is due to catch tomorrow.
- Jon Niese is scheduled to work against his old mates today.
