Brault v the Birds - photo Pittsburgh Pirates |
Pitchers: LHP Steven Brault (4-3/3.88) meets RHP Adam Wainwright (10-9/4.30) in the middle game. In 13 starts since rejoining the rotation, Steven is just 3-2 but with a 2.71 ERA. Unfortunately, he's been a BP guy against the Redbirds - he's 0-1/9.90 in three 2019 outings (two starts), and the Cards have homered three times in 10 frames against him. Waino has seen the Bucs four times this year, and tossed two gems to go with two clunkers, slashing 2-0/4.09 against the Pirates.
Notes:
- James Marvel will go tomorrow,in Mitch Keller's place. Keller was pushed back to Tuesday after bruising his wrist in his last outing, pretty good news after an ugly-looking incident.
- Wei-Chung Wang gotta be lovin' his move to Pittsburgh - two outings, 1-2/3 IP, two wins. He had one MLB victory in 42 previous outings.
- Tough to tell by the record, but the Pirates have won six-of-eight and 10-of-14.
- Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com has 15 names he thinks will be dangled during the off season. He includes some biggies, including Felipe and Starling.
- To step out of the spikes and slip on the pads, gotta wonder about the AB act - he ends up in New England, who gets him at no trade cost and for just $9M guaranteed while he goes to a team that's on the short list of SB contenders...we're not conspiracy theorists very often, but this one doesn't quite pass the sniff test. Guess time will tell.
