Roster Reset

The deadline to set the 40-man roster before the Rule 5 Draft was tonight at 8PM and was Ben Cherington's first front burner issue as GM. One cold comfort BC had is that most of the young talent is already in Pittsburgh and on the 40-man.

The Pirates added to roster were 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes, SS Oneil Cruz, 1B/OF Will Craig, and RHP's Blake Cederlind & Cody Ponce. They DFA'ed pitchers Dario Agrazal, Montana DuRapau, Luis Escobar and Williams Jerez; Dovy Neverauskas lives another day.

Hayes and Cruz were automatic; the other three were likely suspects, so no red letter surprises today.  The 40-man is full now and consists of:

LHP (2) - Stephen Brault, Sam Howard

C (2) - Elias Diaz, Jake Stallings

IF (11) - Josh Bell, Will Craig, Oneil Cruz, Adam Frazier, Erik Gonzalez, Ke'Bryan Hayes, Kevin Kramer, Colin Moran, Kevin Newman, Jose Osuna, Cole Tucker

OF (5) - Starling Marte, Jason Martin, Gregory Polanco, Pablo Reyes, Bryan Reynolds
