-- In case you're wondering whassup with Jay Bay, he began a rehab assignment with Class A St. Lucie last night after suffering a rib cage injury earlier in the year. He's hopeful he can rejoin the Mets by mid-week. Bay hasn't played in a regular-season game since late July 2010, when he suffered a concussion crashing into the left-field wall at Dodger Stadium.
-- Buster Olney of ESPN tweeted that Jack Zduriencik's challenge with the Mariners is a lot like Neal Huntington's when he took over with the Pirates. Both GMs inherited nada to work with in the farm system, and he notes that makes for a long process. Don't we know?
