• The game starts at 7:05 with the Cubs' Edwin Jackson facing Charlie Morton. It will be broadcast by Root Sports and 93.7 The Fan.
• The lineup: Starling Marte LF, Travis Snider RF, Cutch CF, Pedro 3B, Russ Martin C, Neil Walker 2B, Travis Ishikawa 1B, Jordy Mercer SS and Morton P. Too soon to spot a trend, but it's interesting that Clint Hurdle stuck to his platoon again. It's also noteworthy that the skipper is keeping Mercer in the lineup with Ground Chuck on the hill instead of penciling in Clint Barmes.
• Jim Callis of MLB.com has the 2014 draft pool and international limits for the teams, and success is indeed a double edged sword. The Pirates are 21st in draft pool money and 26th in international spending.
• Ex-Bucs: RHP Ryan Reid has been removed from the Mets' 40-man roster to clear a spot for RHP Kyle Farnsworth.
